Compensating Floating Chucks: Introduction

The new WELLACH Compensating Floating Chuck has been designed to optimize the performance of the WELLACH Floating Chucks for use in internal surface finishing in lathes and multispindle machines.

It is a combination of the new WELLACH Compensating Floating Chuck with the well-established WELLACH Floating Chuck.

The floating chuck components permit a continuation of the use of all the advantages of the patented WELLACH Floating Chuck technology. The compensation of run-out and alignment errors is vibration-free, guaranteeing high cutting performance and a long operational life. The integrated coolant supply ensures that the tool cutting edge receives an optimal supply of cooling lubricant.

The compensating chuck components allow manual realignment of tool mounting sockets which are not fully concentric with the rotating spindle and of tool post carriages which do not run truly parallel to the spindle axis.

This feature makes it possible to further minimize the radial play of the floating chuck and to increase cutting speeds even in high-speed lathes and multispindle machines (see diagram).

The new WELLACH Compensating Floating Chuck ensures that the patented WELLACH Floating Chuck technology is used most efficiently and prevents long and costly downtime of the machines: The entire machine no longer needs to be readjusted and leveled out, the spindle error can be simply adjusted using the easily accessible eccentric screws directly on the compensating floating chuck.
